Our biodegradable and compostable clamshells are made from PLA, which is derived from corn grown in the USA. Our biodegradable clamshells meet the most stringent scientific requirements for biodegradability and compostability, and are ASTM D6400-99 certified for "compostable plastics". Even though they are as light and strong as plastic, they fully biodegrade when composted.
These clear, PLA clamshells are perfect for fruit, salads and warm foods. Our biodegradable clamshells are perfect for take out; the PLA clear clamshells work better with salads, while the bagasse clamshells works well with hot foods.
